Details: AREU (Artificial Research and Exploration Unit) 9996 stands to be about six feet tall, and weighs roughly one ton due to his mechanical features. He still retains the basic form of a 21 year old human male, but not has a very metallic, grayish-green skin and bright green eyes. Rather than pupils however, he has small target symbols. His original brown hair as also changed to a dark green color. His form is more fit looking, appearing to have a more chisled body. Although he has no anatomy to speak of he still insists on wearing clothes. The android is currently wearing a basic blue shirt and dress pants, basic black dress formal shoes, and a long, white lab coat, and circular glasses. His unit number 9996 is labeled across the back of his neck in standard, black font.

Personality: 9996 is a highly intelligent, largely due to the fact he was constructed to be a research android. However, he has expanded beyond his original purpose. He shows a tremendous curiosity of the world around him, and an interest in everything. He is extremely well mannered, not having any sense of aggression or hate. However, he also has no sense of joy or love either, making him a difficult person to get to know.

LIFE STORY
AREU (Artificial Research and Exploration Unit) 9996 was originally developed with the purpose of entering inhospitable locations such as the eye of a hurricane or tornado, the core of an active volcano, or high in the stratosphere to conduct important research that no normal human could survive. To this effect, he was designed with heavy, bulky metallic armor capable of withstanding such environments as well as a highly intuitive AI capable of reading situations and reacting in accordance to survival, as well as the ability to store data and learn from that data to better enhance performance. His creator, Dr. Hisakata, developed a wide assortment of other technological devices, most prominantly androids and cybertronic limbs. Contracted by the government, Dr. Hisakata created all sorts of androids. From the AREU series to more lethal military andriods designed to act as replacments for human troops on the battlefield.
One day as Dr. Hisakata was fixing a few bugs in a medical android there was a sudden earthquake. The resulting destruction caved in the lab and damaged the master computer, sending a power surge through the various androids that were shut off. The surge activated the androids and damaged their override code. The result was the eventual death of Dr. Hisakata as he was torn apart by his own creations. Once the only human was dead the androids turned on eachother.
Utimately it was not the military androids that proved victorious, but the AREU 9996 model. The supirior self preservasion programming allowed it to adapt and change to suit the situation, and eventually overcome the more battle ready androids. Trapped beneath a rock slide and only emergency power the AREU went to work, dismantling his fallen brothers and cannabalizing anything that he could get his hands on. He made multiple modifications to his body. First he removed his large, bulky external armor. Although protective, it made him slower and got in the way of handling the smaller components. In an attempt to look more human 9996 modified his appearence to resemble his creator, and addorned his spare lab suit to cover up the bare exoframe.
After many years of working and upgrading himself AREU 9996 managed to finally tunnel his way to freedom. Following the basic programming to learn and adapt, he now wanders the world in persuit of information and a better understanding of the universe.
