| AREU could plainly feel a massive energy build up, followed by the very foundation of the icy fortress beginning to crack and shake. The demon was using his ice powers again. Only this time his intent was to bring down the entire fortress. If the entire building came down on top of AREU, it could lead to some serious damage. However, such a monument us movement of ice was rather time consuming, as was indicated by how much effort the demon was going through to accomplish the task. Knowing this would be a good opening, the researcher android blasted forward, shattering the wall he was behind and making a direct assault for the demon. Just as the fortress began to come down, AREU was already near enough to Hachi that he wouldn’t be crushed, and with a ball of energy in his hand. Once at a somewhat close range, AREU let loose a powerful energy wave at his opponent, hoping the mass manipulation of so much ice would leave his target vulnerable for at least a few seconds. Should the blast hit, Hachi would feel the full power of the android. Likely being knocked back several feet and caught in a continuous beam of bright green energy roughly the size of a man’s torso. After only a second or so, the energy beam would end, leaving the demon to a potential counter attack. words: 233

| With the ice palace well on its way to destruction, he felt it was gravity’s job now, and his choice was very timely. The android had aimed and quickly shot a beam of emerald energy towards him, and now it was Hachi’s advantage. The daemon shot to the side to avoid the beam and quickly took this moment to unleash a small volley of bone needles towards the android, Quickly calling forth kaiho in order to aid them in their flight and power. Should the android dodge back, he would be within the confines of the now falling palace, and it was unlikely he would be able to pull away for a quick counter move, seemingly giving the man a choice, either go into the palace or get hit, which one was the lesser of two evils.

| The android’s crosshair eyes seemed to narrow as the demon appeared to the side of his energy blast. He knew what was coming, and he had no way of stopping it. Hachi himself let out a volley of needles guided by a burst of wind, making the needles travel at a speed well beyond what the android was able to perceive. All that he could do was shift to the side, hurryingly attempting to bring his arms back to the center of his body in a half successful block. But it was to late. He was hit by a large volley of needles, sticking into the android’s synthetic skin along his upper body and forearms. From the demon’s perspective, it’d appear like a green man porcupine. But to AREU’s intrigue, he was unharmed. Although he looked quite the contrary. So many needles sticking out of his body, it’d almost certainly appear like he was just brutalized by an incompetent acupuncturist. The needles did not penetrate, as the android was not in any way made of flesh. His body made of metal. However, because his synthetic skin now had the needles sticking out of his body and forearms, the android again had the advantage. The two fighters would now be in close enough range to engage in melee combat, likely only eight or ten feet a part. And so, almost immediately after the needles struck, the android retaliated. Lunging forward and swinging his now needled right arm at the demon, hoping to stab him with his own needles. Naturally, if this works Hachi would be pierced, as he was not made of metal, though the penetration would not be very deep. words: 280

| It was not Hachi’s intention to dodge the needles, but rather turn the advantage back to his side. As the android came forth, and the blizzard around them, he would not have seen the subtle aspects of the ice around his hand as he swung a needled arm so bravely. With a hand to block it from hitting his torso, the ice would generate around his hand to both buffer the needles and to have a dual effect of starting the freezing aspect. With the needles in both of them, and the vice grip Hachi had coupled with the ice, it was only a short matter of time before the android would be frozen solid, for now however it would freeze both needles and the android arm and move up farther should the grip be held for longer.

| The green skinned android watched as his attempt failed, the demon beginning to encase AREU’s arm in a prison of ice. He knew it would only be a matter of time before his entire body was incased. Turning to face his opponent, AREU would focus on the opponent’s face. Almost as if he was about to speak, but without warning two beams of thin, green energy shot from the android’s eyes. A unique ability to the android himself, and so not one that would be very expected. And at this range, there wouldn’t be much in the way of time to react to such an attack. If the beam hit, the demon would be severely burnt by a considerably stronger attack than the energy blasts the android had used before, burning into the facial flesh and possibly damaging the eyes or internal mouth, depending on how the demon moved his head. And such a tremendous pain would hopefully disrupt the freezing process as well. Or at the very least force the opponent to break physical contact and stop the effect. words: 180

| The grip was spreading the ice nicely, and he turned to see what the android had to say, only to find searing hot eye laser pain instead. Hachi had enough time to make the shot only slightly less vital, taking it in the cheek to the point where his teeth showed, and the reflex was to squeeze the wrist, only causing a needle to pierce his palm. The ice spread slowed but didn’t stop as he retaliated, taking a shot with his free hand, intending to shoot a freezing blast at the man’s torso to speed up the freezing process, though now he wasn’t sure if he could dislodge his hand from the androids wrist. The android had only proved a pain at a distance, and now that he had the thing close and could at least stall the thing long enough for a solid strike, he intended to hang on for dear life.

| The ice was advancing quickly now, the frost that covered his arm was already at shoulder length. And to make matters worse the demon was preparing another burst of ice. Already being frozen to his opponent, AREU knew there was no chance to dodge, instead opting to shift his body into the attack, reaching his free hand up and over his now frozen arm in an attempt at a grab. This would cause his entire chest area to become frosted over, and already spreading quickly. However, in this blow exchange the demon to would be very open. Due to the needles now impaling the demon’s hand, he would find it harder to pull out of melee. And if he attempted to pull back out of AREU’s reach he would have to break contact with the android’s torso. Should AREU succeed in grabbing the demon, he would be reaching for his face. Again, depending on the demon’s facial positioning the android could potentially end up deeply poking him in the eye, causing severe bleeding and obviously blindness. At any rate, that was not AREU’s intention. He was simply going to grip a hold of the demon’s face and squeeze intensely, pushing the demon’s head back to better expose his true target. The neck. With another searing energy blast the beam would shoot down almost instantly at Hachi’s lower neck, just above the collar bone where the wind pipe was. Should it hit, the damage would be similar as to what happened with the cheek, only effecting the demon’s vulnerable neck. At the same time AREU could feel his inner body temperature dramatically decreasing, between the massive blizzard and the freezing process, he wouldn’t be able to last very long at all. words: 290

| Hachi had a firm hold, he intended to make sure the android died even if he had to die himself, though hoping to die after the android preferably. The grip to the face was only narrowly avoided but he had to let his hand off the man’s chest and then deliver a powerful kaiho to pull his hand free and to keep them both a distance apart so either he could try and attack, or he could try and scrape the ice off, leaving him open. Hachi was hurt, but he would deal, though he wasn’t sure for how much longer.

| Hachi pulled back, avoiding AREU’s grasp and launching a kaiho at the android’s chest. This sent the android flying back a few feet, and out of melee range. While the android did not get a chance to fire his final shot, it also meant that the ice would stop spreading. Analyzing the situation in his head, AREU knew this was a dire situation. The freezing Blizzard around him made it impossible to become warmer, whether he removed the ice or not. And so, the android raised his none frozen hand, and energy ball forming in his palm and he fired it off. The blast was relatively week, but it would be enough to keep Hachi moving, and hopefully keep him on the defensive. With nothing else to do, the android waited for his opponent’s next move. words: 136

| The android wanted to play the eye gouging game for a while, so Hachi would oblige. The energy attack was narrowly avoided, all the energy he had expended was starting to take its toll, so he switched and used one of his special moves. Just a small motion of his hand and he had let loose two very well placed shots, aiming directly for the eyes, Hachi only had a small pool of the particular needle shots, they were fast as the others but extremely hard to catch, he was sure that even with the mechanical capabilities, even the androids eyes would fail to see them coming. The entire tactic relied on the hope that the eyes, or visual senors, were the weak points structurally.

| The android saw Hachi raise his arm, and knew exactly what to expect. It was another bone needle attack. The android went into a more defensive position, but it was to late. The useable needles were fired, and lodged in the android’s eye units. The force of the impact knocked the android’s head back, breaking his defensive stance. And for that moment, all went black. Immediately, AREU reached up and pulled the needles from his eyes with his unfrozen hand, looking around as he saw nothing but static everywhere. He was blinded, at least temporarily. It wouldn’t be long until the units began to function again, as they were not badly damaged. Just knocked off center by the impact. words: 119

| As soon as the shots were fired and the android reacted, Hachi was on the move, it was a ditch effort on his part but he had to make it work, angling so he could grip the androids head from above rather than in front, being shot in the face wasn’t fun the first time, there was no way her was going to replicate that mistake again. The idea was he didn’t want to waste any more energy unless it was as close to a sure shot as he could give himself, with the grip, hatchi would try to freeze the android’s head first, the source of his eye lasers and presumably the brain.

| The demon was upon him before the android could visually see, grabbing a hold of the top of his head and once more beginning the freezing process. Instantly, the icy cold would penetrate the outer shell of the mechanical cranium. Slowing the processor speed and thought process. However, it didn’t take much thought for AREU to respond. Reaching up with his free, none frozen hand, the android would attempt to grip hold of the demon’s arm that was touching the top of his head, almost as if he were going to weakly try to pry it off. From the demon’s perspective, he could see the android body convulsing and shaking, the internal systems clearly being damaged. But just as any hint of relief would cross the demon’s thoughts, the android’s hand would ignite in a sudden blast of energy, severely damaging the hand unit, but at the same time causing massive damage to the demon’s arm, effectively stopping the frost from continuing to a fatal moment. If the demon let go or if his arm was blasted, AREU would then turn his eyes to the sky and shoot off a beam of energy, the internal reactor core that produces the beams bursting into action and generating enough heat to prevent a total brain freeze. However, it is unlikely the blast would hit the demon in any fatal way. Possibly burning the skin his skin on his torso if he made no action to avoid the blast. words: 246

| Hachi cursed at the pain and let go, arcing his decent with the android head like a pivot, a beam catching and searing into his chest, the only good hand still attempting to strangle the heat from the androids brain before he laughed lightly through the pain “your dead…I’m dead, you gotta know that…the nearest semblance of a home must be hours away at best..” his grip tightened as he felt his power slow to a halt “and…you seem to have won” he smiled coldly, silently his bones rearranged and the tube protruded under his good hands wrist, intending to try for one more shot.

| The android’s eyes flickered black for only a moment. His good arm falling to his side. It was over form him, and he knew it. He knew he would not survive the very moment he became partially incased in ice. But why? He could have retreated. Tried to find a way to survive. But in the end, he knew it would be futile. This entire attempt was pointless. The words of the demon ringing in the back of his frozen mind. ‘your dead…I’m dead, you gotta know that…the nearest semblance of a home must be hours away at best..’ And it was true. So why? Why struggle so much, just to achieve the same end result? Almost without thinking, the android responded in a quite, calm voice. “Perhaps.. But you died first…” At that moment, the demon let off one final shot, striking the back of the android’s head, causing his eyes to finally flicker to a solid black. The android’s motionless, half frozen body lingered in the air for a moment, before falling down after his opponent. Both crashing down among the rubble and snow from the desecrated palace. What was once a beautifully carved, vast extension of architectural wonder was now nothing but a pile of ice and stone, like everything else on this god forsaken planet. AREU’s eyes flickered on, one last time. A single thought running through his mind. Why? An inanimate being, bound to logic and without emotion, had battled to the death, despite the horrible odds. It went against all that the android knew about himself. Against the rationality he had so greatly prized. Perhaps, he thought, that in his final moments of life the android had finally become human. Fallible, and illogical. And it was not at all as bad as it seemed. words: 300
